U3A Gardening Interest Group visit to Parliament House and Gardens

                                                               Parliament House 1901 The GIG group enjoyed a great day in Melbourne on Tuesday 4th April, undertaking a public tour of Parliament House and Gardens.  Matt Burns, Electorate Officer organised the tour for the group.  Matt is part of Julianna Addison's team who is Member for Wendouree.  Our tour guides at Parliament were James and Baron.  The tour led by James was very thorough, with his knowledge sharing allowing for a very entertaining and enjoyable tour.     Please find attached the link to Parliament House to give you the history and information of the day to day workings of Parliament.  The following is the timeline of Victoria's Parliament House: 1851: Victoria established 1854: Site chosen 1855: Knight and Kerr chosen to run design and construction 1856: Legislative chambers completed 1861: Parliamentary library completed 1879: Grand Hall and vestibule completed 1888: Front facade completed 1892: Lamps and ste
